I started this site for two primary reasons. My first and foremost reason was that I loved reading to my sons and I wanted to create a record of the things we enjoyed most. I also love children’s books (I always have) and sometimes people ask me for recommendations. When they do, I often got completely tongue-tied; there were so many great options I didn’t know where to begin. I hoped this site would help me provide more useful information (and it has).
It’s been a long time since my boys were the best ages for reading aloud, so this blog is now a snapshot of a time that has passed, rather than an ongoing project. It was an absolute pleasure throughout.
The site’s name refers to Groucho Marx’s observation that “Outside of a dog, a book is a man’s best friend. Inside of a dog it’s too dark to read.”
My site’s logo by www.LindaGrahamDesign.com. I highly recommend her work!
